Grid Blogging

I’ve been thinking of ways of developing distributed collaborative projects and came up with the following idea: grid blogging – which I imagine as being a group of bloggers tackling a specific topic on a specific day/time.
The first grid blogging is set for December 1. It’s an interesting idea and it’ll be fun to see how the blogs then discuss the ideas they’ve plopped simultaneously into the blogosphere. But because the first topic is “brand,” I’m unlikely to participate in this particular one. (Now, if it were Stewart Brand, it’d be different.) [Thanks to Hanan Cohen for the link.]

I also have been reminiscing about Stewart Brand and Co. m’self past few days, Dr. Weinberger.
I’m guessing now that they were reading Ted Nelson or something, because I still recall the diagram (probably printed in WEC (Whole Earth Catalog) or, more likely, Co-Evolution Quarterly) in the ’72 – ’75 timeframe. It showed how scientific papers could be used to implement a kind-a meritocracy, via popularity and cross-references.. via links, of course.
Makes the ’80-something supposed patent of the link (owned by BT) somewhat suspect, in my mind. But looked for this diagram on Net a year or year-and-a-half ago, so couldn’t determine the date of this (apparently) prior art.
Was just thinking last night that you’d probably hafta multiple the $20K WEC was started with about ten-fold, these days… Dunno why I was wasting energy on the idea, but enjoy a dream as much as anybody.
Never intenionally stomp on another “man’s” dream, btw. Prefer to focus on dreams that are actually do-able in some kind-a timeframe m’self and both of those, of course, are a matter of future probabilities.
I do not believe, however, the old saw that “my guess is as good as your’s” or “it’s anybody’s guess”… Sure, anybody can Have an opinion, but the probability that all opinions are equally accurate seems highly questionable.
I s’pose I’ll be able to figure out which of my own guesses are fairly accurate.. with sufficient hindsight… (big grin)
