Hemispheric Google
Posted on:: December 21st, 2004
Google’s logo today features playful polar bears. I assume that if you come to Google from the southern hemisphere, it doesn’t have a winter theme, but I don’t know how to check…

The Google bears are here in Brazil in first summer day!
I decided to see if I could trick good ‘ol Google myself and used proxy servers from Argentina and Brazil and received the same logo as I did when not spoofing my ip address. If I’m able to trick it I’ll send the image over.
I forgot to mention that I’m fairly certain I spoofed the ip address properly since I was redirected from Google.com to the proper country specific Google. Google.com.br (Brazil) and Google.com.ar (Argentina). Each showed the same logo as Google.com.
In Australia and we get the polar bears. It’s anything but cold!
Just a word from another corner of the world. The polar bears are also on Google right here in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. It gets down to about 55 degrees F here at night, and the locals think it cold…
I did not even know this but the southern hemisphere does not even contain polar bears so google is going to have to play around a little bit and find some new google logo creators. Otherwise google should fork out some cash to the environementalists to import some Polar Bears to Antarctica as a test to see if they can survive in the south. I would love to see that!
Whats a polar bear?
I am from Argentina and I don’t see any polar bear, nor winter theme. Your page is very ugly here, ;¬) your page is yellow and orange.
In the preview there is a blue “theme”.
Bye bye
I don’t see bears either in google.
