Nov 3 Theses

Lots of good stuff in these 2919 theses. Some are even inspirational. Now all we need is the positive vision, the words to put it in, the leaders who can lead us towards that vision, a functioning organization on the ground, and 15,000 red. white and blue balloons attached to the ceiling of a large facility.

  1. From now on, my November 3 Thesis will involve a great steak dinner, balloons, cake, friends, famly, and celebration. So there! How does that make you feel?

  2. XIX theses…

I’m happy to stick with the “Democrat” brand, but it’s time for a new “progressive alliance.” This alliance will foster unity among those who have formerly competed with each other to everybody’s detriment.

If you can’t find something good to say about the Greens, you can’t join our club. If you can’t find something good to say about the little vegan from Cleveland, you can’t join our club. If you can’t find something that distinguishes you from the Republicans on the subjects of war, women’s reproductive health, taxes, public services, health care, employment, and education… YOU CAN’T JOIN OUR CLUB.

Say it with me now, one time: A Progressive Alliance.

  3. I’m waiting for the recount results.

  4. Brad, it makes me feel fine. Enjoy!

  5. In addition to the excellent suggestions in the thesis, I think anyone calling himself or herself a progressive should refuse to make appearances on certain shows. This would include Bill O’Liarly, of course, HANNITY and colmes, and many others. When intelligent and well meaning progressive people go on these shows, it gives them a legitimacy they don’t deserve. To maintain the appearance of respectability and balance they need the occasional liberal. But in these venues, where there really isn’t even a pretense of fairness, there is no hope of gaining any kind of advantage. If there is an alliance, its strength needs to be demonstrated in some way.

Of course people make a lot of money probably by making appearances, so it is our job to know how much everyone is being paid, and let those who refuse to stop appearing that we will brand them as sell outs.

BTW, does anyone know how much Fox pays for an appearance on O’Liarly?

  6. OK, my post had nothing to do with the election. Nov 3 has been and will forever be my birthday. Good to see you’re all still good sports.

  7. aha. i am looking for the christian left in the Progressive Alliance. i work as a telephone pollster and the question people have the most trouble with is “do you consider yourself born again or evangelical? People of Faith on the Left don’t know how to answer,

  8. i think it sad that the reaxtion to the 29 theses is so negative. i would think a progressive alliance would seek to be inclusive, and not first decide Whom We Don’t Want. the real question is what do we want for the country?

  9. XIX = 19 theses. Ah well…
