Eminem’s screed

As a 53-year-old suburban dad, I am, let’s say, outside of Eminem’s demographic. But his vehemently anti-Bush Mosh (lyrics here) truly shizzled my nizzle. (I’m assuming it’s good to have one’s nizzles shizzled.)

Maybe you can tell me: Are his claims of self-importance (“Come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness…”, “I give sight to the blind”) as egotistical as they sound, merely evidence of the young lad’s lack of a self-esteem problem, or just part of the genre I need to accept?

  1. “You talk about your woman

    You talk about your woman
I wish you could see mine
Every time she starts to loving’
She brings eyesight to the blind”

Nothing to see here, move along.

  2. Pick up 8 Mile from the discount DVD rack. Watching it during debate season is a pretty funny and ironic contrast of culture and politics if you ponder the contrast for a few minutes.

Eminem is still pissed that Lynn Cheney blew up his career (in a good way) by calling him out as a misogynist thug. I think he gets that this oppressive, Puritanical society has made him rich beyond his wildest dreams.

  3. Well, someone has got to lead us out of the darkness. May as well be M&M.

  4. Part of the genre you need to accept.

  5. Stunning! We should all go to the polls next Tuesday wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt.

  6. Is it satire, mimicking those other (older) rich white guys ?

  7. Is it worth mentioning that the character who sings the lyrics of a song is not always literally the human person singing? You could imagine: Eminem is a figure in the enactment of a myth–in this version, played by a guy named Marshall Mathers.

  8. FYI, I found launch.com a better place to see the video, no hick-ups and full screen.

  9. The video is also at http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2654122 if gnn.tv is swamped.

  10. Eminem’s Mosh Video

Salon.com says: With his history of homophobia and his long-running beef with MoveOn supporter Moby, Eminem is an even less likely lefty hero than Howard Stern. But the just-released video for his new anti-Bush song “Mosh,” makes “Fahrenheit 9/11” loo…

  11. Or there’s a BitTorrent file… :-)

  12. Hey just a tip: fo shizzle ma nizzle means for sure my nigga…so know what yur sayin, unless you mean nigga…which I kinda doubt.

  13. Have you watched the video, David? It made me cry, and it made my wife cry–she’s a hard sell, too.

  14. Eminence

Who to vote for, who to vote for. Voting for George W. Bush seems like a no brainer. Specifically, George W. Bush has Arnold Schwarzenegger, a commercial wolfpack (Wolf Political Action Committee??), and Britney Spears (
