The Myth of Documents as Containers
Posted on:: December 4th, 2003
I’m off to NYC – let’s hear it for Amtrak! – to give a talk to customers of Pitney-Bowes about why documents aren’t really containers of information. Why would we ever think that they were? Perhaps because we’ve viewed ourselves as containers of information. Plus, we’ve recently managed to informationalize all of business. But, you know what? Information isn’t really the lifeblood of business. Lifeblood is the lifeblood of business.
Of course, I’ll probably rewrite the whole thing on the train ride down.
It’s us!
David ist ein unermüdlicher Kämpfer für die Befreiung des Menschen aus sein selbstverschuldeten Einkerkerung.
Amazing Brainwash Reversals:
1. 20 Years ago, small, gas efficient cars were cool. Today we are encouraged to guzzle gas that is even more scarce and expensive. Hmmm…where is your expendable income going? What started this world war we’re in?
2. 10 Years ago, low-fat diets were cool. Today, with obesity at an all time high, high-fat/low-carb diets are encouraged. Exactly, what, now, causes obesity. I guess those mega-size fat-food lobbies have the last laugh.
3. Sex, love, and rock and roll/Killing, death, assassination and murder.
4. Remember “Earth Day,” where we’d all go out and be nature buffs for a day? Now, we are encouraged to drive SUVs over the most remote and naturally beautiful areas.
5. Love/Strife
–Got more? Let’s have ’em!
can you bring me back some postage for my containers at least? ;-)
